Is a Lash Lift Safe During Pregnancy? Our Policy at Belris

Is a Lash Lift Safe During Pregnancy? Our Policy at Belris

Short answer: at Belris, we do not offer lash lift services, including our Korean Lash Lift, to clients who are pregnant. This applies across the board, regardless of trimester or which lash lift option you're asking about. Below, we explain why, and what we recommend instead.

Why We Don't Offer Lash Lift During Pregnancy

Lash lift solutions work by chemically softening and reshaping the lash from the root, then setting it with a second solution. This process:

  • Relies on predictable skin and hair chemistry — and pregnancy hormones can change how skin and hair respond to any chemical treatment, sometimes unpredictably, even for products a client has used safely before.

  • Involves prolonged, close contact with the eye area, where any unexpected reaction is harder to manage quickly and comfortably.

  • Has no meaningful medical urgency — unlike a health treatment, this is a purely cosmetic choice, so we'd rather pause it for a few months than take on any avoidable risk during pregnancy.

This same reasoning applies to our Korean Lash Lift, even though it's a gentler, non-glue formula generally recommended for sensitive eyes. It still relies on a chemical solution to reshape the lash, so it falls under the same policy — we don't make an exception for it during pregnancy.

We want to be upfront that this is our own precautionary policy, not a claim that lash lifts are medically proven unsafe during pregnancy — there simply isn't enough dedicated research either way for us to feel comfortable offering it, so we choose the more cautious path

What About Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination uses a similar type of solution to lash lift, just applied to brow hairs instead of lashes. We don't strictly restrict brow lamination for pregnant clients, but we also don't actively recommend it during pregnancy for the same general reasoning above — heightened, less predictable skin sensitivity during pregnancy. If you're pregnant and interested in brow lamination, we're happy to talk it through with you at consultation, including a patch test, so you can make an informed choice together with your technician.

Pregnancy-Friendly Alternatives We Do Offer

You don't have to skip beautiful lashes and brows entirely while pregnant:

  • Lash Serum — our Belris Lash & Brow Growth Serum conditions and lengthens natural lashes over time. It's a topical conditioning product, not a chemical treatment or procedure, so it doesn't carry the same precautionary pause.

  • Eyelash Extensions — generally considered safe for most healthy pregnancies with a few precautions (adhesive choice, positioning, patch testing). See our full guide: Can You Get Lash Extensions While Pregnant? →

  • Brow Lamination — available with a consultation and patch test, as noted above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a lash lift safe during pregnancy?

At Belris, we don't offer lash lift services to pregnant clients as a precaution, regardless of trimester. This reflects our own cautious policy rather than a claim that lash lifts are medically proven unsafe.

Is a Korean Lash Lift safe during pregnancy?

No exception is made for our Korean Lash Lift — even though it's a gentler, non-glue formula, it still uses a chemical solution to reshape the lash, so the same pregnancy policy applies.

Can I get a lash lift and tint while pregnant?

No — this falls under the same pregnancy policy as a standalone lash lift at Belris.

Is brow lamination safe during pregnancy?

We don't strictly restrict brow lamination for pregnant clients, though we don't actively recommend it either, for similar reasons. We're happy to discuss it at consultation, including a patch test, so you can decide together with your technician.

What can I do for my lashes and brows while pregnant?

Eyelash extensions are generally considered safe with precautions, and our Lash & Brow Growth Serum has no procedural restrictions during pregnancy. Brow lamination is available with a consultation. We're also happy to welcome you back for a lash lift once you're postpartum.

We'll Be Here Post-Pregnancy

Our decision to pause lash lift services during pregnancy comes from the same care we bring to every client relationship — we'd rather ask you to wait a few months than take on any avoidable risk. We look forward to welcoming you back for a lash lift in Los Angeles, Westwood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Palisades, or Bel Air once you're postpartum.
