Do’s and Don’ts Before Your Microblading Appointment in Los Angeles

Dreaming of natural-looking, fuller eyebrows that wake up with you every morning? Microblading can absolutely deliver that. But getting those great results, especially here in Los Angeles, isn't just about your artist's skill. It truly starts with how you prepare. Following smart pre-microblading prep tips is crucial for anyone looking to get the best results—especially in a city like Los Angeles, where beauty standards are high.

At Belris Art, we're all about making sure you get the best outcome. We've put together this straightforward guide to help you get your skin ready, setting you up for success with your microblading session.

Prepping for Your Microblading Appointment: What LA Clients Need to Know

Consider this your pre appointment checklist. Every point here plays a big part in making sure your skin is perfectly ready to receive the pigment and heal beautifully

What to DO Before Your Microblading Appointment

  • Do Talk to Us at Belris Art: We always prefer to have a brief word with you prior to your appointment. It's ever so much better to talk over any allergies, medical conditions, or medication that you're on. This chat makes your microblading treatment safe and enables us to provide you with personalized advice. You can learn more about our services and schedule your consultation with Belris Art, your go-to spot for microblading and microshading in Los Angeles.

  • Do Hydrate Well: Begin drinking lots of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Why? Hydrated skin is healthier and more forgiving of pigment, resulting in an improved, even color outcome.

  • Do Eat a Light Meal: Enjoy a light meal or snack an hour before your arrival. This keeps your blood sugar level steady. Nobody wants to be weak in the middle of a beauty treatment, and a light meal keeps you comfortable and awake.

  • Do Arrive With Clean Skin: Please arrive for your appointment with a clean, fresh face. Make sure your brow area is spotless of makeup, lotions, and heavy creams. A clean canvas must be created in order for precise work to be done and for proper pigmentation absorption.

  • Do Get Good Rest: Make an effort to obtain a good night's rest prior to your session. You'll be so much more relaxed and feel so much better during the process if you're rested.

  • Do Plan Your Travel (Especially in LA!): LA traffic and parking can be unpredictable, so give yourself extra time to arrive relaxed and ready. Remove the tension from your day by planning your travel. Include a little extra time for travel, or use a ride service. Arriving in a calm state of mind is a much nicer way to begin your appointment.

What NOT to DO Before Your Microblading Appointment (Things to Avoid)

Paying close attention to these things to avoid before microblading is just as important as what you do. These are guidelines to keep you safe, prevent you from bleeding, minimize sensitivity, and have your brows heal beautifully with dense, rich color.

  • Do NOT use blood thinners: Refrain from using blood-thinning medications and supplements at least 48-72 hours prior. These are the greatest offenders, including Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, and certain herbal supplements. They can lead to excess bleeding during and after microblading and potentially affect the quality of how the pigment settles and your brows heal. Always consult your physician before stopping an Rx medication.

  • Don't Have a Drink of Alcohol or Caffeine: Avoid all alcohol for 24-48 hours prior to visiting us, and at least 24 hours refrain from caffeine (from tea, coffee, energy drinks). Both tend to thin the blood and make you more nervous or sensitive when having the procedure performed. We don't want you nervous, we want you calm!

  • Avoid using retinoids or vitamin A products: Retin-A, retinol, tretinoin and other vitamin A products should be avoided, especially around your brows, at least 2-4 weeks ago. These products thin out the skin and cause sensitivity and can therefore lead to poor pigment retention or treatment complications. This is an essential part of preparing your skin properly for the best microblading results.

  • Don't Get Your Eyebrows Threaded, Waxed, or Tinted: Steer clear of any hair removal (threading or waxing) or coloring of your eyebrows for a minimum of a week prior. This will allow your natural brow hair time to grow, allowing your artist the best possible idea of your natural shape and hair growth to work with. And, it avoids irritating your skin prior to the treatment.

  • Stay Away from Getting Facials, Peels, or Microdermabrasion: Do not get any intense facial treatments, chemical peeling, or microdermabrasion for at least four weeks prior to your procedure. They deeply exfoliate your skin so that it will be too sensitive or even raw for microblading.

  • Don't Get Botox or Fillers Near Your Brows: If you're planning on getting Botox or fillers, make sure to do so at least 2-4 weeks before your microblading appointment. This gives the injections plenty of time to settle fully. Why does this matter? It ensures your artist can accurately assess your natural facial expressions and symmetry when mapping out your precise brow shape.

Why Getting Ready for Microblading Is Key to Perfect Brows in LA

These pre-microblading prep tips help ensure you’re choosing the best option for your brows—especially if you're navigating the busy beauty scene in LA. Being ready isn't so much about regulations as it is about largely improving the chances of spectacular outcomes.

It brings the risk to zero, allows your skin to better accept and retain the pigment, and calms you down. Your skin is in the best condition it can be, and your artist can then proceed with their magic and for you produce cleaner lines, improved color, and ultimately gorgeous, long-lasting microblading results that you will be utterly over the moon with.
